In order to achieve radiant, healthy skin, it is important to follow a daily, weekly and monthly regime for best results. A schedule like the one here will give you the best results. Daily: Wash your face with cleansing grains, close pores with a tonic astringent. If you have dry skin, moisturize with a light, non oily cream. Weekly: Use a facial mask, and herbal steam. Monthly: Treat yourself to the entire program, just as though you were going to a spa.
For the daily regime, the cleansing grains can be made using the following recipe:
1 cup finely ground oats
2 cups white clay
1/4 cup finely ground almonds
1/4 cup finely ground lavender
1/4 finely ground roses
essential oils (a few drops, optional)
These cleansing grains are a perfect soap alternative, and are quite mild. Oatmeal is a wonderful texture, and will scrub away surface debris and dirt. To use, just mix one or two teaspoons with some water to form a paste, and gently massage into the skin. After a thorough cleansing, rinse with warm water. You can grind up the ingredients yourself either in your blender or a coffee bean grinder. Make sure to separate these tools from your regular kitchen appliances. You may also add a drop or two of the essential oils to add a pretty smell. Store your grains in a tightly capped container.

Place all the herbs in a wide mouthed jar and cover with the witch hazel extract. Cover tightly and let sit for 2-3 weeks. Now, you will strain the mixture, and add one half cup of the rosewater. You may also at this time add some essential oil such as lavender, rose, or our choice. Place mixture in a pretty bottle. This tonic does not need to be refrigerated.
